Repeated geophysical expedition to Armenia
Client:
Development agency of the Czech Republic and Archaeological Institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Duration:
2016 - 2019
Goals of the project:
Most of the documented sites and monuments were located in the province of Armavir, later with an overlap to the province of Aragatsotn. The province of Armavir is located on the southwestern border of Armenia with Turkey on the northern side of the Araks river valley (it forms the border between the two states). In the north, the province of Armavir passes into the foothills of the highest Armenian mountain Aragats (province Aragatsotn). The basic task of the Armenian side for the documentation of archaeological sites was to determine the extent of sites, determine the thickness of archaeological layers and define archaeologically promising structures (sites Granjyan Blur, Aghavnatun / Aghvesi Grer, Aygeshat, Argishtichinili, Lernamerdz and Lernagog). We used the DEMP and magnetometry measurements.
